# Reject Scales

Reject Bin Scales are integrated floor scales used to accurately track and attribute reject fruit (Waste, Undersize, Class 3, Soft sort, etc.) to specific Packruns. Each scale station is equipped with a local HMI showing the live scale value, a light tower for status indication, and either one or two control buttons depending on the site configuration.

## Operator Interface

### Buttons
- Button
   - Used to start and stop the live weighing process for a bin.
- Button (Optional)
   - Used to transition the station to the next Packrun. Note: Some systems use automatic timing for packrun changes and do not have this button.

### Light Tower & States
The light tower provides immediate visual feedback on the state of the scale:

| Light Signal | State | Description |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| | **Recording** | **Live Weighing Active.** Do not touch or lean on the bin. A siren will alert if any disturbance is detected. |
| | **Ready for Bin** | Live weighing is inactive. The bin can be safely removed or replaced. |
| | **Packrun Change** | A new Packrun is waiting. Wait for a gap in fruit flow, then press the Packrun Change button (Optional). |
| | **Error** | The scale has encountered an error. See troubleshooting below for reset instructions. |

## Operating Instructions

### Starting a New Bin
1. Ensure the light tower is .
2. Place an empty bin onto the scale.
3. Check the HMI to confirm the weight is stable.
4. Press the button to start live weighing. The light will change to .

> **Crucial**
>
> While the light is , do not touch, lean on, or move the bin. Any physical disturbance will interfere with the accuracy of the weight data.
>
> If the system detects a disturbance, the siren will sound.

### Finishing a Bin
1. Once the bin is full, press the button again.
2. The light will change back to .
3. You can now safely remove the full bin and replace it with an empty one.

### Changing Packruns
- When the line manager starts a Packrun change the light will flash (if equipped).
- To maintain accurate data, wait for a natural gap in the fruit flow reaching the bin.
- **Manual Systems**: Press the button to update the bin's assignment to the new Packrun.
- **Automatic Systems**: The assignment will update automatically based on the belt timing; no button press is required.

## Web App Monitoring

The current status of all Reject Scales can be monitored in the **RICADO Packing Line** web app.

### Status Overview
Navigate to the **Reject Bin Scales** page in the web app to see:
- Live weights for every scale station.
- Current status
- Active Packrun for each scale.

### Target Weight Configuration
For sites equipped with **Automatic Scales**, you can adjust the filling limits from the web app:
1. On the **Reject Bin Scales** page, locate the specific scale.
2. Click the **Gear** button.
3. Adjust the **Target Gross Weight** as required. This value determines when the system will automatically trigger a bin change over.

## Troubleshooting

### Scale is in an Error State
If the light tower is flashing , the scale has encountered an error and will stop recording.

#### Why did this happen?
- **Lost Connection**: The system hasn't heard from the scale for 15 seconds. Ensure the scale is powered on and the data cable is firmly plugged in.
- **Unstable Weight**: The scale couldn't get a steady reading for 10 seconds. This usually happens if someone is leaning on the bin or moving it while the system is trying to record.

#### How to Reset
Once the issue is resolved, you can clear the error using one of these methods:
- **Button Reset:** Press and hold the button for **5 seconds**.
- **Touchscreen Reset:** Navigate to the main packing line touchscreen and press the **Reset Errors** button.

### Data not appearing in FreshPack
If weights are not appearing in FreshPack, or the system is reporting FreshPack-related errors:
- Ensure that a **Multi-Grower bin number range** has been correctly set up in the FreshPack Master Data. Without this range, FreshPack will reject the weight data sent by the scale.
