FreshPack Integration

The RICADO Gen 4 Packhouse system integrates with Radfords FreshPack to synchronize production data in real-time.

The following information is exchanged between RICADO and the FreshPack API.

RICADO regularly requests this information from FreshPack to keep the local system updated. Note that most operational polling stops if there is no active packrun on the line.

  • Production Schedule: New and updated packruns (checked every 10 seconds).
  • Master Data: Graders, Facilities, Material Groups, Varieties, and Pallet Types (checked every 5 minutes).
  • Clearance: Market holds and grower clearance status (checked every 15 seconds while packrun is active).
  • Results: Real-time packed tray counts (checked every 30 seconds while packrun is active).

RICADO sends this data to FreshPack immediately when a physical event occurs:

EventAction in FreshPack
New Reject BinRequests a new Multi-Grower Bin number.
Bin WeighedRecords fruit weight against the bin.
Bin FinalizedTriggers a bin card print at the designated printer.
Field Bin TippingSubmits full and empty weights to after the bin has been tipped.
Packrun FinishedSends final Soft-Sort event counts.

You can check the live status of the FreshPack integration in the Packing Line Web App. Navigate to the Packrun > Manage page and look for the FreshPack Communication Status under the FreshPack Schedule section.

Detailed logs of all bin data sent to FreshPack are available on the FreshPack page in the web app. Here, you can click on any individual bin to view:

  • Detailed Error Messages: Specific reasons why a transfer may have failed.
  • Retry Counts: How many attempts the system has made to send the data.

If weights or bins are not showing up in FreshPack:

  1. Check Connection: Ensure the packhouse network is active. RICADO will cache data locally during brief outages and retry once restored.
  2. Reject Bin Ranges: Specifically for Reject Scales, ensure a Multi-Grower bin number range is configured in FreshPack. Without this, the system cannot generate new bin numbers.
  • New Packruns: It can take up to 10 seconds for a packrun created in FreshPack to appear in RICADO.
  • Master Data Changes: Changes to varieties or equipment settings in FreshPack can take up to 5 minutes to synchronize.

If reject bin cards are not printing:

  1. Check Physical Printer: Ensure the printer is powered on, has labels loaded, and has no error lights.
  2. Verify FreshPack: Confirm that you can print a test label directly from within FreshPack.
  3. Review RICADO Logs: Check the FreshPack page in RICADO Packing Line for any error messages related the integration.
